چکیده

We present measurements of the infrared response of the quasi-one-dimensional organic conductor (TMTSF)2FSO3 along (E‖a) and perpendicular (E‖b ′) to the stacking axis as a function of temperature. Above the metal-insulator transition related to the anion ordering the optical conductivity spectra show a Drude-like response. Below the transition an energy gap of about 1500 cm (185 meV) opens, leading to the corresponding charge transfer band in the optical conductivity spectra. The analysis of the infrared-active vibrations gives evidence for the long-range crystal structure modulation below the transition temperature and for the short-range order fluctuations of the lattice modulation above the transition temperature. Also we report about a new infrared mode at around 710 cm with a peculiar temperature behavior, which has so far not been observed in any other (TMTSF)2X salt showing a metal-insulator transition. A qualitative model based on the coupling between the TMTSF molecule vibration and the reorientation of electrical dipole moment of the FSO3 anion is proposed, in order to explain the anomalous behavior of the new mode. X-ray diffuse scattering study of superstructure formation in tetramethyltetraselenafulvalenium perrhenate (TMTSF)2ReO4 and nitrate (TMTSF) 2NO3

2014 X-ray diffuse scattering studies of one dimensional conductors (TMTSF)2ReO4 and (TMTSF)2NO3 reveal the formation of low temperature superstructures which might involve an ordering of the counter ions ReO-4 and NO-3. The superstructure reflections are characterized by wave vectors q = (1/2, 1/2, 1/2) for the perrhenate and q = (1/2, 0, 0) for the nitrate, which double the unit cell volume i...

Field - induced confinement in ( TMTSF ) 2 ClO 4 under accurately aligned magnetic fields

We present transport measurements along the least conducting (c) direction of the organic superconductor (TMTSF)2ClO4 performed under an accurately aligned magnetic field in the low temperature regime. The experimental results reveal a two-dimensional confinement of the carriers in the (a,b) planes which is governed by the magnetic field component along the b ′ direction. This 2-D confinement i...

Magnetic-field-induced Luttinger insulator state in quasi-one-dimensional conductors

We present a heuristic, semiphenomenological model of the anomalous temperature (T ) dependence of resistivity ρxx recently observed experimentally in the quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) organic conductors of the (TMTSF)2X family in moderately strong magnetic fields. We suggest that a Q1D conductor behaves like an insulator (dρxx/dT < 0), when its effective dimensionality is one, and like a metal (...
